Reflection

Observations
Taking this module was like stepping behind the scenes of how video and sound come together. I started off with zero confidence in editing software, but gradually got more comfortable experimenting with both visuals and audio. The hands-on sessions were the highlight especially when we got to record and shape sound creatively. While technical parts like mixing audio or fixing colour tones took some trial and error, those challenges actually helped me understand the tools better. Group work also played a huge role in shaping my experience, it showed me how unpredictable production can be, and how vital good teamwork and planning really are.

Experience
One thing that stood out during this module was how many moving parts go into making even a short video. The pre-production phase  from storyboards to equipment prep made me realize how much time and thought goes into planning. I also noticed that creativity works differently for everyone. Watching classmates approach the same task in completely different ways taught me that there’s no single formula for creating something impactful. Tiny details like when to fade in sound or how to position lighting can completely change the final output’s tone and message.

Findings
By the end of the module, I realised that this field is not just about being “good with software.” It’s about communicating ideas through sound and visuals, adapting quickly when plans fall apart, and thinking creatively while solving problems. I’ve become more comfortable switching between roles whether that’s camera operator, editor, or sound designer and learned how important flexibility and teamwork are. This course helped sharpen my eye for detail and gave me a deeper respect for the craft behind multimedia storytelling.
